Large control almost hides with autohide off

09 Sep 2009, 13:45

I set autohide off for largecontrols, and the arrows for next and previous (right and left of the image) almost hide anyway, making them easy to miss until the mouse is near. Can I change that "almost hide" color to something less hidden? Or eliminate the almost-hiding?

Depends on what theme you are using. I see them quite visible here when not set to autohide. Also, just go to THEME settings and controls.largecontrols.color.

By default, they are set to inherit the foreground_color, as to be in contrast with the background. However, in some cases, the foreground_color may not be too different from the background_color to provide enough contrast.

Karl, the largecontrols color is set to the foreground color. The largecontrol next and previous arrows to the right and left of the images are that foreground color when the mouse is near that contol (arrow). But when the mouse is not nearby, those arrows are much darker (which I referred to as almost hiding).

Yes I understood that, as I emphasized in my previous email. Some themes dont have that large of a contrast between forground_color and background_color. Thats why I gave you the details for the settings item so you can change the color your self!

When rolling over the item, the button goes to 100% opacity, but while in static mode, it is at 50% opacity. I think this is normal UI behaviour.

If you really want to to stand out, then why not change the color to white? Also, those buttons are large and light up when user moves to the right/left of the image - Not sure how they can be missed ...

Thanks, Karl. I'd like to have control over the opacity of the largecontrols, as is provided for the maincontrols.button. Just one more theme setting :-)

hmm, ok then =)

Just don ´t like adding too many settings, as we already believe settings are bloated and confusing. This is for themes though, and easy to add so expect it done for next release!

Now no one will miss those large arrows set to 50% opacity. Thanks!
