again - working on text page

20 May 2011, 22:50

So, again, a newbie in the forum :) . Maybe someone can help me.

To place clickable thumbnails in my text page I wrote this code:
Code
<p><textformat leading="90"><code><a href="#/content/Gallery/PEOPLE/_PIC8791.jpg"><img src="content/Gallery/PEOPLE/tn__PIC8791.jpg" /></a></code></textformat></p><code><a href="#/content/Gallery/HDR/Aalborg City.jpg"><img src="content/Gallery/HDR/tn_Aalborg City.jpg" /></a></code
and the thumbnails (under red text) looks like this:
Image

I wonder how to write the code to place clickable thumbnails "side by side", like on example below
Image

Sorry for my poor english.

Thanks
Artur.

Unfortunately, the answer to this is: sorry it's pretty much not possible. As the main developer of the flash gallery frontend, I can myself sign under on the fact that flash textfields are not usable for much more than text itself with basic embedding of images. I have myself tried to do exactly what you are trying to do, and it simply does not work because images embedded in flash textfields do not comply to correct alignment and layout. They simply want to push themselves either left or right ...

The only solution to features like this, would be to build a specific movieclip module that can be embedded into a textpage where for example it creates a layout similar to the one you are looking for ... There would still be some challenges, but I'm afraid that for now you need to simply re-consider what you are trying to do with the textpage ...

We also have other ideas for textpages - We are thinking of making an optional html-frontend for textpages, where the page displays in a lightbox module hovering above the SWF. Not elegant, but this would provide a window that supports the text layout as you want it because it renders from the browser.

Thank you very much for answer.

That's what I made for now (embed an swf file), because coding text pages made me dizzy :?

I trying make some movieclips contain extra functions like guestbook, "new pictures" , etc... but I can code only in AS3. I wonder taht maybe there is some solution for text pages - simple movieclips which can be also edited in admin panel, is that possible? Because I agree with you that any lightbox module hovering above the SWF will not be very elegant.

(again sorry for my english)

Thaks
Artur.

I doubt we have the capacity to create a "movieclip editor" from the admin panel. How would that work? What we can do, and what we hope to do, is just create additional modules that can be selected for insertion into textpages ... We already have some ideas, like guestbook ... Feel free to suggest others ...

MP3 player would be a great ideo, so that it is possible to present music. So that imagevue can be used to present one's photos, vidoes and then music.

Just for the record, you can already add "mp3" files in any gallery folder. You just need to add the "mp3" as an extension. Admin -> settings -> settings.includefilesext.

Currently this would not actually play the mp3 locally in the Imagevue gallery - We would need to create a module for that. However, creating a module specifically to be embedded into a textpage is very backwards. The whole idea of flash is that you can add rich media, but limiting the media to be embedded in very-difficult-to-work with and very limited flash textfields I think is not the right way to go ...

So yes, a solution more optimized for mp3 files yes, but embeddable in a textpage? I think not ...

An advanced Mp3 module would be a nice feature, but specifically I think more about "photo-functionality" as imagevue name suggest :wink: .
Imagevue have huge possibilities to become "privat" filckr/picasa application(Especially now, when hosting is realy cheep, and imagevue aplication in very acceptable price).
But there are still missing features, like photo rating and commenting, guestbook in flexible form, and advanced text pages (without any limitations) and there should be focus pointed on first - in my opinion, of course...

Kind Regards
Artur.

I think next version will have a generic video/mp3 player ... Eg. it can handle both audio and video, so should function well as an audio player. Of course, I guess some people would want a specific audioplayer-module with playlist instead of having to use the native gallery navigation for audio files.

Thank You Martin :)

The guestbook layout is created in flash (simple movie clip embeded into text page), only text in output form is customizable in PHP file. So there is not so much space to customizing it.
I made it for default dark theme(with text fields like in contact form). Need whole textpages i your imagevue gallery set to 900pix width, background colour to black and opacity to 100% (its because guestbook flash module have black background and 900pix width).
Of course, If you know something about Flash AS2, then I can send you source file and you can edit it for your preferences (I can see that your text pages have yellow background and default size).

In other way, if you are able to change size of your text pages (for 900pix width), then I can edit for you colours inside this module :wink:

Kind Regards
Artur.

Hi Artur,
I do not know anything of Flash AS2, so I would be obliged if you would edit the colours for me inside the module.
I edited the themes I'm using, so know I've got the background opacity=100; the width=900 and Margin=130 and Padding=30... although I don't think the last two settings will differ.

These are the colours I'm using:
Background.Color=FAE6A8
Background.Scrollbar_Color=E6DCCD
Background.Scrollbar_Arrow_Color=AF7700

But to be able to make some adjustments myself in the future, could you also send me the source file?
I can always dive into Flash AS2 :)

Could you also tell me how I have to implement the module in the textpage?
I'm looking forward to see my guestbook :D

Thanks for your efforts!

Artur,

Thanks a lot again for helping me out with this Guestbook feature.
It looks really great... I like it a lot!

For everyone else who wants to see a second implementation of this Guestbook, have a look here:
