Admin slowdowns.

Some of you been reporting that 2.0.1 is slower than 2.0. It's very hard to find anything in this forum so please answer here only if you one of those guys getting timeouts or noticeable slowdowns after upgrade (globetrotter?, patrick, ...)

What I need from you:

1. Descriptions of how it worked before, what happens with latest release
2. Which versions are in questions, because Patrick_D1985 rolled back to some beta version, but beta was faster because it didnt care alot.
3. FTP logins to check on your sites.
4. Would be great if you could have 2 dirs - one with timeout another without.

ps. I know its bit hard to keep track which version you got, but life is unfair.

Do not leave ftp logins in post ofcourse, just email or pm but please include all points in your message.

Thank you.

Just saw your post :)
Cool you're looking into it.

1] Well the admin part kept generating time out errors where it mentioned overgoing the php max_execution_time which was set to 60. Seeing as I ahve root access I changed it to 120 , and even 240 but still it came back with this notification.

This happened mostly when wanting to manage the pics or by going to the config option. (new version seems to cache for some reason)

2] Well as stated above version 2.0.1 X gave me the above so I tried the 2.0.0 final ... same thing (skipped this one due to the fact I wasn't busy updating)

Currently I'm using imagevue_v2 20 11 2008 for www.pfsquad.nu/Pictures
And this seems to run fine in admin (ok some slowdown but that can be considered as normal because I have quite a lot of pics in there)

3] Sure I'll provide you with an ftp pass.
[CHECK YOUR PM PAIN]

Made a admin login for you for www.pfsquad.nu/Pictures:
[CHECK YOUR PM PAIN]

I'll upload the new version to www.pfsquad.nu/Pictures_ERROR
Ill add the same content there (curerntly downloading and will be reupping this later tonight)

I'll make the same login available for www.pfsquad.nu/Pictures_ERROR
as soon as it is done.

You can start testing tomorrow If you want to ... put please don't remove or change anything about the folder or such of www.pfsquad.nu/Pictures

Thanks in advance for helping out :D
You guys really are a great team :)

I didnt upgrade (stright using latest version) but I notify, the speed of admin part directly depends on amount of files at "content/" dir....
when I use 1 folder with about 50 pics, its fast as hell. When I reconfigure and reupp 5000 pics in a 20 folders I got timeouts at admin part...

My idea is thats because of checking folderdata.xml files from admin part.

Hope it helps.. :?

Heh, I believe for 5000 photos you need some faster hosting.

Also I didn't quite understand - are you comparing pre-release beta with release version? Or did it get slower after 2.0.1 update? General slowness we plan to cure in 2.1. We're file-based gallery, no db. So we need some fast disk.

Maybe you can make an optional database 'plug-in', for the people which have a database on their site?

Well that is true the more pics ... the more time it takes.
But just for you're info. My gallery contains about 40.000+ pics ;)
So I can understand it takes some time ...

On another note... Pain
Did you get to testing a little already?

hi are you still getting this issue??

i had the same thing with my new host, turns out there is something some php setting on the server for "static" or "dynamic" scriping (so the admin guy told me) once it was switched to dynamic everything was fine,

What of patrick - there are thousands of pictures on weak host.

We having file-based gallery, this is both strong and weak point. You just upload and it works, but it gets resource-demanding for large galleries pretty quick.

We have some plans of speeding it up for the next major release though.

Ehh you mean my host is weak?... how have you determined that if I may ask? Still strange that the older gallery works fine then :p but looking forward to test a new release ;)

Well, because it takes more than 20 seconds to build a page, trust me. You have marcobrivio case, too much load on a weak host, beta version could handle it because we added some "improvements" which are bit demanding for large galleries.

This is marco's success story:

I believe just load dropped on your host. Maybe somebody moved.
