Flash 10 and V2

15 Oct 2008, 07:02

Adobe has released Flash 10 final today. I installed it but it doesn't seem to work well with the latest beta of imgevue.
When you press the upload button from within the admin, nothing happens. That's the only thing I hve noticed, but it is quite a big thing. Now to downgrade to Flash 9.

Let me just clear a few things:

Are you using Imagevue V1? The imagevue V2 admin doesn't use flash, so I expect you are ...

Flash 10 is an authoring environment - it is unrelated to the flash player itself.

Hmm, that's very strange then. The problem arises in the latest beta of v2 (15 oct) If I install flash player 10, the upload button doesn't respond. When I install version 9 of flash, no problems what so ever.

I'm using firefox 3 on mac os x 10.5.5.

We would have to look into that, and sure enough, the V2 uploader actually uses a SWF module hidden in the background to handle multiple file uploads.

Usually, new flash player versions don't "break" functionality in SWF files that are exported for earlier versions. I found a related post:

Sounds plausible. The flash front-end of v2 works fine with flash 10.

Something we will have to look into. In the meantime, if anyone experiences this, they may need to select "disableSWFUpload" in the config to use a basic HTML upload module

I think everyone is going to start experiencing this problem now because of Flash 10.

Hopefully you guys can fix this with the next update.

See there is a beta version out of SWFUpload that fixes this ...

It's certainly top priority. We tried the new beta swfupload already, but there were complications so we had to take it out. We will be fixing this asap ...

I noticed the "upload" button works with Firefox but not with IE (V2 latest beta).
