Hide images from Google and others...

01 Aug 2023, 07:39

Hello Karl

When I offer images to my customers for download, I create a gallery page that I protect with a username and password. In addition, I hide the page. I will then send the link.

My question: Is this the sensible approach to prevent Google from scanning the images at some point?

Recommend that you take further steps, e.g. B. nofollow, noindex or is that not necessary?

Best regards from Basel

It would normally be sufficient. The password-protection alone will prevent Google from finding the page, and therefore would not be know about the images. The only way Google could find the images, would be if they are linked from elsewhere.

I really can't see the point of adding anything else. Adding "nofollow, noindex" to a 403 forbidden page is pointless.
