which methods are available to create image captions?
Are there any to create them within the panel or does it have to be done on the computer?

- X3 will use the IPTC title/caption stored in your image if any. This is often set from applications like iPhoto or Lightroom, and is stored directly in the image. This is the most "portable" option.
- You can input titles and descriptions directly from the panel gallery section of your pages.
In addition to having titles and/or descriptions available, you would also need to set your specific page gallery layout to display the titles in some fashion.

Correct. If you have set your gallery to display titles, X3 will create titles based on the following priorities:Haider of Sweden wrote:Can I assume the Panel way overrides the IPTC way?
- Title assigned from panel (stored in page.json).
- Title extracted directly from the image (IPTC).
- Title created from file name. For example, "nice_garden.jpg" becomes "Nice garden".
