Differently colored sections (page background)

Hello Karl I am looking for a way to design my site in a similar way to your wonderful site https://www.photo.gallery . In other words, with alternating sections below the header, whereby the text should only use the middle area on larger screens. It is enough to be able to color the background diff...

Re: Update when re-uploading the same image

Hello Karl Thank you for your understandable and helpful argumentation!  If you can automatically add a date parameter when uploading to galleries, that would be the solution. It is important to also include the time in the date, as this is the only way to correct errors found in an image by re-uplo...

Re: Update when re-uploading the same image

Thank you very much Karl!  You have explained it very well! Until now I wrongly assumed that the updating problem only affected images that were inserted directly as image links in the text. Now I have finally understood why this is also the case in galleries!  In my opinion, it would be a very simp...

Update when re-uploading the same image

Hello Karl I have been having a problem for years that we have already discussed in a similar context in this forum: On company websites it often happens that, for example, you upload print screens of software solutions to a gallery. The name of the image corresponds to the name for the mask, e.g. “...

Hide images from Google and others...

Hello Karl When I offer images to my customers for download, I create a gallery page that I protect with a username and password. In addition, I hide the page. I will then send the link. My question: Is this the sensible approach to prevent Google from scanning the images at some point? Recommend th...

Of course I will only use it specifically in 2 places. That solved the problem for me!

Thanks very much!

Re: Old image version is displayed after upload a new one

Hello Karl But one final thought: I could use ?t='.time().'  append in the scr element. Then I don't have to adjust the number manually after each upload of a new image version. I came across an entry in Google that reads the time differently. In my opinion, this should also apply to our case. Or c...

Re: Old image version is displayed after upload a new one

Hello Karl Thank you, now I know everything I need to know. You explained it excellently. And I'm not frustrated at all - it was just a matter of fully understanding the matter. And now I know the trick with the parameter ?v=1 that solves the problem in hrefs. Incidentally, there are definitely reas...

Re: Old image version is displayed after upload a new one

Hello Karl Thank you! Your answer is mostly understandable and comprehensible for me. However, the following is not entirely clear to me: 1. Why does clearing the browser cache not help? I tried this too. 2. How long do I have to wait for the cache problem to resolve itself? 3. How long does it take...

Old image version is displayed after upload a new one

Hello Karl I've had an annoying problem with the image cache for a few years. I think I remember making an inquiry about this a long time ago. But now that I've realized how much time I've lost with this problem over the past few years, I'm happy to describe it today. It occurs, for example, with th...

Formating a menu item with CSS

Hello Karl

Is there a way that I can use CSS to display the AUSSTELLUNG menu item on my website https://www.thomas-ruf.ch/ in a different color?
That would be very helpful, as this menu item is a time-limited event that should be immediately noticeable in the menu.

Best regards from Basel
