Generic file support

03 Sep 2008, 07:12

Imagevue V2 generally supports any file type, but there are only a few formats(image/video) that will open directly in the Imagevue interface because of the Flash player restrictions. Other file types will either display in a separate browser window, or prompt to be downloaded.

The Imagevue V2 gallery interface supports the following formats:
JPG
GIF
PNG
SWF
FLV (video)

Other formats, will open in a new browser window:
TXT
HTML
BMP
PDF*
DOC*
QT*
++ more
* These file formats require browser specific plugins

Any other file type can also be integrated, but unless they are supported by the browser, they will trigger a download-file action from Imagevue.

Formats that are not native to Flash/Imagevue will trigger different events for 'imagebuttons' and right-click context menu.

JPG
JPG is the recommended format for displaying Images on the web and for Imagevue. All(known) jpg formats are supported including progressive jpg.

GIF
The Flash player does not support animated GIF files, and it will only display the first frame. Transparent GIF files will display the default
thumbnails 'matte' color as gif background.

PNG
Both png-8 and png-24 are supported. Transparent PNG files will display the default 'matte' color as png background

SWF
Imagevue supports SWF files/animations, but there are many restrictions. The independent SWF can not have any code that interferes with Imagevue. This may effect the code in the gallery from running correctly, or even the position and alignment. SWF files must also have a transparent background in the first frame representing the dimensions of the animation so Imagevue can position it correctly on stage. Also, SWF files must be able to run in the same version as Imagevue V2 is exported for(currenty flash player8).
