No thumbnail display

06 Jan 2012, 14:26

Everything is working fine for me, except one problem that if I have an image with resolution bigger than "4000" like 3500x5000 then it won't create thumbnail, only an "X" show but when you click on the "X" you can view full size image.

So how am I create a thumbnail for an image with resolution bigger than "4000"?

Why should you want a resolution bigger than 4000?
Is there anyone out there that has a screen that supports this?
It only will make the download of images slower.

I'm Agree with Martin.
I don't want to be malignant, but I don't think I would have enough patience watching your gallery :)
It's ok when u have 20(and more)Mb/s internet connection, but remember that there's still milions who have even less than 1Mb/s . It looks like you want to serve them long coffee break between images
As alternative I recommend use "_altimage" for download.

Those are just family pictures that I want to keep them all original, and I only share those with family members. So if anyone knows how, please show me. Thanks.

I'll have to agree too, I also share pictures with my family. Believe me, it is not good to have them so big. It is better to have them like 1024 on the longer size and have instead better quality, they'll enjoy it more then having to download so large pictures.

If you want them big, then resize them to 1600px perhaps ... what would you want 5000px for? The filesize will be 10x as big with 5000px vs 1600px, and obviously they wont be able to take advantage of 5000px on their screen anyway ... If need be, then use the "altimage" setting to provide high-res downloadable versions of the web-sized image.

The technical reason why this doesn't work? This is because your server does not have the capacity to create thumbnails from images that are this big. You do not have enough memory allocated, and this is usual for shared servers. It is not anything we can workaround in Imagevue.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll have to resize them to smaller size.
