Problem with the upload.

28 Jun 2011, 10:20

First : I have 2 computers and i work with Windows Seven OS. In 32 bits for one, and 64 bits for the second.
With the 64 bits computer, it's not possible to upload picture (with swf method) because the bouton "upload" is not visible. It's true with internet navigator "Internet Explorer 9"(32 and 64 bits version) [capture 1]. With internet navigator "Opera 11.11", "Maxhon 3" and "Firefox 5", i can upload [capture 2] but in the end, there are not picture in the folder [capture 3].
With the 32 bits computer, there are no problem with "Internet exlorer 9" and "Maxthon 2.5 (pictures are uploaded). With internet navigator "Opera 11.50", "Maxhon 3" and "Firefox 5", i can upload but in the end, there are not picture in the folder (like computer 64 bits) [capture 2 and 3].
With HTML method upload, there are no problem, but it's not so easy because, i can upload pictures, only one by one.
If you have one minute for this problem (not urgent) .... 8)
Thanks.

Interesting, do you actually have Flash installed on the 64-bit computer? It looks like there is no Flash at all. I can't say much about this right now, except that we haven't heard of this before. Need to find 64-bit Windows 7 for testing first.

Do you see this in all browsers?

No need to find a 64-bit Windows 7 for testing, because I have one (with IE9).

I have no problems at all. The Upload button is visible and I can select images and they do upload and are even visible afterwards. I tried it with adding an image to an existing folder as well as adding images to a just created folder.

I also have windows 7 64bit, don't use the internet explorer 64bit use the 32bit version. There are problems with flash in the 64bit version of ie. It's always better to avoid using ie :-)

One thing that's a little irritating is that the green Upload button takes quite a few seconds to appear.
I suppose this must be the applet loading on the page.
It's not awful it's just a bit ... frustrating when the old upload button was always there and gave you the upload dialogue right away.
Having said that, there seems to be practically no limit to how many pictures the gallery will upload in one go, which is excellent.

Very strange. For another test on my computer "Windows seven Pro 64 bits", in first, i uninstalled flash and after, i installed flash 64 and 32 bits. Now, i can upload pictures with IE 9 (64 and 32 bits). It's good ! But, with "Opéra", "Firefox" or "Maxthon" it's not still possible.
What is strange, is that if I test the site on a local server (installed on same computer that's internet navigators - browsers), it's possible, in this case, to upload pictures (on local server of course. No on online server. I'm not sur that's clear).

It gives the impression that the download is not a successful with these browsers because of a problem with the firewall of my antivirus (I use Bitdenfender). But I tried, for a test, Windows in safe mode with network support, but it does not work better.
I generally use "Opera", but as downloads of the pictures is no longer a problem with IE 9, do not panic. As long as I couldn't find a solution, I'm use IE 9.

I took some other tests on my Windows 7 64 bits.

All my installed browser work OK with uploading images:
IE9 64bits
FF 3.6.18
Safari 5.05
Opera 11.10
Chrome 12.0.742.100

I think it's visible, i don't write english very well (don't laugh  ). And i don't know if some expressions are always correct  .
When i wrote, in the previous message, " on local server of course. No on online server", i wanted to say with "local server" = "http://localhost", and with "on line" = "www.storygraphe.fr". I think it's more clear now (i cross fingers) .
For your information, i tested, on windows 7 64-bit, the last 64-bit version of Firefox. No more chance. Same problem as with the last version 32-bit Firefox (5.0).

I will test in near future, of uninstall Bitdefender (antivirus). I remember having a problem, in the past, with a program that's don't worked properly. And with uninstalling the antivirus (Norton at the time, i think), everything worked again.

Following at the next episode.

New episode.
Well, i uninstalled Bitdefender (antivirus), but, i'm very sad : there are no amelioration for browsers Firfox, Maxthon and Opera, on my computers 64 or 32 bit. It's always impossible to upload pictures. Only IE 9 (32 and 64-bit) accepts to upload pictures.
Following the next episode... A test among a friend

Works here (W7 ultimate, 64bit, any browser)...

I know it may be too obvious, but have You check the folders parameters?

Maybe you use some ad blocking addon? (I remember in the past I had problem with plugin for firefox "adBlock", sometimes it caused problems even with flash buttons)

Hello Philip,
yes.
And, in this case, that's don't explain why i can upload with IE (32 et 64-bit), and not with another browser.
I haven't tested to disable addons. I only tested activate pop-up. I teste next time.
Thank's for this idea.
