Main Controls sometime stick in odd location when align=IBM

25 Aug 2008, 02:39

Not a big issue, but thought it worth mentioning.

When I set my "Main Controls" alignment to IBM they will sometimes
stick in the upper left hand portion of the stage, just underneath the
main menu. Usually a clearing of the cache and/or changing the
alignment, saving, then changing it back again fixes the issue.

See here: http://www.christophergrant.net

If it doesn't stick, that's good! However you sometimes can still
see when loading the page how the controls start near the upper
left hand portion of the stage then reset themselves to the correct
location. (Try refreshing page several times over to see the 'effect')

Using Safari 3.1.2

UPDATE: This issue is a little more obvious in the most recent
update, "imagevue v2 beta 20080825." You can see the controls
clearly in the upper left hand corner when loading the page.

Yes, I guess you have just made it clear how poor the optional positioning settings for main controls are. We have been so focused on optimizing it for the bottom of the screen with thumbnailscroller and margins, that the other settings kinda miss out.

I have to admit, we would consider removing some settings because it just isn't feasible to support all combinations in a liquid layout. For now I suggest you might have to simply stick to the alignment options that align to the stage instead of the image. I will add to list!

Chris,

It seems to me that upon first loading a V2 webpage with a gallery set to start at "thumbnails" and the "/content" path, this is where you run into this problem. I too have noticed the maincontrols getting stuck underneath the gallery when there is no content onscreen at the initial launch of the webpage. This is not a problem as long as the maincontrols are aligned to the stage, and only occurs when the aligment is relative to an image.
