(7 Aug 08) Can create folder but images do not show

09 Aug 2008, 00:38

For V2 update 7. August 2008, I can successfully create folders via admin and upload images to those folders, but images will not appear when browsing as a user. Images uploaded to folders included with V2 (pictures1, pictures2, etc.) can be viewed.

Testing script on local server (MAMP on OSX), verified permissions for Content folder set recursively to 777.

Hi,
Some servers do not accept capitalized extensions (i.e. .JPG). I am not sure though whether this will resolve your problem. I had a similar situation before and took me hours to figure out this fact.
Thanks

Thanks for the info, smithmm. I double-checked and all images have lower case extensions :?

Try setting "disableSWFUpload" to true in your config. It will create a standard html file uploader - See if this works, so at least we know the source of the problem.

I'm sure pain would like to look inside your server ...

Thank you for the suggestion. After setting "disableSWFUpload" to true, I was able to successfully upload an image to the root Content folder, which now appears when loading the gallery (I have text pages set up, then image gallery folders).

Images uploaded to folders I've created do not appear, although they still appear in the default V2 folders. Strangely, the image count for the folders does not change.

I'm testing locally on my laptop, but will upload the files to my host (Dreamhost), and will look into creating an account so pain can view the files.

Actually this is VERY interesting, I am running mamp and not having issuer on mac whatsoever. Lets try and sort it out, please, send me your php.ini, httpd.conf and phpinfo from diag page.

We trying to figure out what causes errors in uploader, but from day 0 it was rock solid on localhost both mac and windows.

I have no problem uploading...I tried this on 2 different machines. However, when I uploaded on the first machine successfully, I couldn't view in the gallery. BUT, when I looked at the website on a second machine, I could get to the images. Could upload images on the second machine into a NEW folder, then tried to view on the website Gallery, no luck. Caching prob perhaps?

I'd like to report that with version 2008-08-25, the Flash upload, folder creation and caching issues no longer occur :D
