How about SUPER CACHE!
Seriously, while I agree with Karl and Pain in that scanning the directory structure shouldn't take that long, I have a ton of directories and sub directories and blah blah blah. It would be great to have some sort of "Super Cache" mode that allowed the creation of the XML file so that it was generated each time someone visited the site. I ~think~ it would increase loading speed. With that said, I also think that it should be an add-one product and not part of the core. Sell it for an additional 10$! |

Seriously, I have been thinking of this for a long time already. Its just quite a hige change to the gallery/admin infrastructure. We hope to be addressing something like this for release 2.2. Like you say, it will simply be an XML cache system. _________________ Karl / mjau-mjau ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() www.imagevuex.com www.mjau-mjau.com www.photogallerylinks.com |

Would be cool seeing the loading improved
My Gallery is quite big (48.500+ pics) and well the initial loading actually takes to looong. Once it's loaded it works like a breeze but that initial load causes a lot of drama for my visitors. If that can be improved theis gallery will rock even more _________________ PFSquad : Party Freakz Online Owner / Webmaster / Administrator / Head of Photography Website : http://pfsquad.nu |

Hey Pain.
Well just did a timing of Imagevue version 2.1 Initial loading of the Flash gallery takes about 25 - 30 seconds. After that initial load it's smooth sailing allll the way. Loading a differnt folder takes 1 - 3 secs depending on the amount of pics. Admin still takes ... 50 - 60 secs for initial login and switching pages in between for instance manage to settings or settings to themes also takes that amount of time. Hope this gives you some indication. Further sweet looking release _________________ PFSquad : Party Freakz Online Owner / Webmaster / Administrator / Head of Photography Website : http://pfsquad.nu |

Actually we have built-in timer, to use it you have to install Firebug Firefox extension from getfirebug.com and enable Console for your site.
