I made that function, and Metallissimus  helped me a lot with insightful suggestions and bug reports. The selection in any album is working good now, it allows to send a mail with that list of photos and any form field you need. Interface in the panel for that? OMFG! Maybe you didn't update the page date manually. In vanilla X3 if you want to change the page date you have to do it in page-> settings-> date. If you edit a page that already has a date, and click save, there is no automatic update of that date.

Decided to bypass cdn and modify x3.min.js.  Mixing buttons and descriptions didn't do it.  Buttons are separated from description. I made some progress. I focused on the mechanics behind my cart mod. I can't really edit x3.min.js for big things, therefore I had to resort to some quite brutal tricks to make it work (the refresh to take into account what is or is not in the cart after clicking add or remove). No doubt some talent...

working directly from the X3 source / design has advantages of course.  Knowing your own baby is an even bigger advantage than the source only.  I am certainly following this post. So, I adapted the layouts.
BUT due to the nature of X3, the JS script adjusting the style for the column layout doesn't work in search results and cart..

I'm trying to figure that out.

I already managed to add the "add to selection" button not only in the popup but also in caption overlay in the gallery, so visitors can add to selection directly from there.  I didn't think of that. Great idea! Unfortunately I don't know how to prevent that clicking on the button in caption overly...

made some progress. All my mods are now faster and broader. Search now picks up in the photo exifs keywords, title and description, and also in regular pages content. the virtual albums work well, but it's a just a little bit cumbersome to setup in the panel. a page for the search form was not good. In the panel, I hijacked the settings and menu: settings->menu->drop down option and added a "smart search" option. In normal display mode, the search form shows in the menu and the link to that page with the form is hidden.. Best practice to me would seem to...

y a pas de padding ou border dans le style de l'image, donc c'est collé.
style="width: 25%; float: left; padding:10px;" devrait le faire par exemple.

So I coded my own  photo sitemap for google image.
It is working but slowly.
In a few days, the crawler already visited some of the photos and a few are indexed.

A specific sitemap for photos is definitely the way to go to get (back in my case) photos show up in google image search.

Update:
- I made the process smoother for the visitor.
- I inverted the positions of the form (or any content in the page that could be there) with the list of photos in the selection.
- the initial setup is more automated.

- a button to clear all the images in the selection
