Gallery FAQ

The scroll speed of the main menu is based on the total height of the menu, the visitors screen height, and the location of the visitors mouse pointer. Because of this, there is not really any “speed” settings, because the vertical scroll location of the menu is simply based on the vertical position of the visitors mouse pointer. However, there are a few steps you can take to improve the experience for long vertical menus on smaller screens:

• Decrease horizontal menu margin
  The most effective way of minimizing the menu and make it easier to scroll, is to remove some of the generous margins in the menu buttons. To achieve this, go to admin › themes › edit your theme › menu.mainmenu.menuitem.vertical_textmargin. Try setting the value to something low like 2. This will greatly help reduce the overall height of the menu, and make it easier to navigate if you have a long menu and/or the visitor has a small screen.
• Reduce font-size
  To further decrease the height of the menu, you could also reduce the font-size. This is done by going to admin › themes › edit your theme › edit theme stylesheet. The menu font size is set in the class

  Remember to empty your browser cache after changing this!

• close_same_level
  To avoid long menus with several open submenus, use the close_same_level setting to make sure that only one node within a parent menu-item can be open simultaneously. Go to admin › settings › menu.mainmenu.close_same_level. Set it to true.
• Categorize your folders into subfolders
  To further optimize the height of the menu, you should categorize your folders into subfolders so to avoid a very long menu. Menu will only expand as the visitor opens submenus.

You may have a gallery folder that only a specific client should see, or maybe you have an entire gallery-section that you only want to show to your family and friends?

• Single private gallery folder
  In the Imagevue admin, create your folder as normal in any location on your content-tree. Now, on the right-side panel, click “Hide this folder“. This folder will now be hidden from your main gallery, and nobody will be able to see it (simply because it is invisible). However, you can now provide the direct link to this specific folder to your client, or to any person who you want to see the content. The link would be something like: yourgallery/#/content/privatefolder/
• Full private gallery
  This is if you want to create a separate gallery with menus and subfolders, only visible to a few people or clients. From FTP, navigate to your gallery folder where you see the default content folder. Now create a new contentfolder, for example called myprivate. Now, you can create an entire subfolder structure under the myprivate folder, and display this as a separate gallery. The only people that will have access to it, are the ones who you provide the link for example yourgallery/?contentfolder=myprivate. Keep in mind, that if you want to manage this separate gallery from your admin, you will first have to go to admin › settings, and set the contentfolder setting to reflect the myprivate folder. From here, you can manage all your content under the separate myprivate gallery, and when you are finished, you can set the contentfolder back to the default “content” in settings.

Please be aware that both the methods described above do not really protect your private content. They are simply methods to make certain folders or galleries unknown and therefore invisible to the public. It is also a nice way to create virtual client areas, or multiple galleries altogether!
